Research says, milk fat has a lower risk for heart disease

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Someone who consumes more milk fat lower risk of cardiovascular disease than those who eat less.

This is in accordance with a study conducted by an international team of scientists. They tracked 4,150 60-year-olds in Sweden regarding fat consumption milk by measuring the levels of certain fatty acids in the blood that are most commonly found in milk.

The experts were then followed for an average of 16 years to observe how many people had heart attacks, strokes, and other serious blood disorders. In addition, it also monitors how many people died.

After statistically adjusting for cardiovascular disease risk factors, including age, income, lifestyle, dietary habits, and other diseases, the researchers concluded that people with high levels of fatty acids – indicating a high intake of dairy fat – had the lowest risk of cardiovascular disease. .

In addition, there were no signs of an increased risk of death from all causes.

Furthermore, the research team confirmed the findings with 17 other researchers. Some of the countries involved include the US, Denmark, and the UK with a total of 43,000 people.

“While these findings may be in part influenced by factors other than milk fat, our study does not demonstrate any harm from milk fat itself,” said Matti Marklund, senior researcher at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney. 27/9/2021).

Marklund continued, “We found those with the highest levels actually had the lowest CVD (cardiovascular disease) risk. This relationship is very interesting, but we need further research to better understand the full health effects of dairy fats and dairy foods.”

Meanwhile, another researcher from the George Institute Kathy Trieu said, consumption of some dairy foods, especially fermented products, can be beneficial for the heart.
