The day after his injury against Serbia in Brazil’s first match at the World Cup, Neymar took to his Instagram account and seems convinced he will play again before the end of the World Cup.
Neymar’s first match at the 2022 World Cup didn’t go quite as expected given that, if the Seleção logically dominated Serbia thanks to Richarlison’s brace, the PSG number 10 was injured ten minutes from the end. Touched on a tackle by Gudelj midway through the second period, his oft-injured right ankle again forced him out and the Brazilian press are now talking of a two-game absence.
While manager Tite was quick to announce that he was convinced Neymar would play again during the competition and that Brazil’s first medical point announced an unavailability which appears to be quite reasonable, he was chiefly concerned with revealing his feelings on the his Instagram account and Neymar seems anything but down right now:
“The pride and love I feel wearing this shirt is inexplicable. If God had given me the opportunity to choose a country, I would have chosen Brazil.
Nothing in my life has been given to me or has been easy, I’ve always had to run after my dreams and goals. I have never wished anyone harm and have always helped those in need.
Today was one of the hardest moments of my career,… and once again during a world = Yes I’m injured, it’s boring, it’s going to hurt, but I’m sure I’ll have the opportunity to come back because I’ll do my best to help my country, my teammates and myself.
