Washington. Republican Senator Mitt Romney wants to vote for President Donald Trump’s impeachment. “I believe he should be removed from office,” Romney told Fox News Wednesday before the crucial vote in Trump’s impeachment process.
Trump is guilty of “horrific abuse of public trust,” Romney said. “I can hardly imagine a more serious attack on our constitution.” He was for the hearing of additional witnesses in the Senate to get facts that would relieve the president.
Romney was aware that he was a minority
He was aware that his vote meant that he was a minority, Romney said. However, he cited his oath of oath and said he was able to tell his children and grandchildren that he had done his best to do it.
So far, Romney is the only Republican who has announced that he will vote for Trump’s conviction. “It’s the hardest decision of my life,” he said. It is certain that the majority of the Republicans stand behind Trump and will vote for an acquittal on both charges – abuse of power and obstruction of the Congress investigation. To convict Trump, 67 senators would have to vote for at least one of the two House charges.
