Repair works are continuing on the Tallinn highway and the Riga bypass

Also in November, repair works continue in many parts of the national road network and drivers have to take into account traffic restrictions. In Pieriga, the works will continue on the Tallinn highway in its initial stage, as well as on the Riga bypass near Jaunmārupe, reports SJSC Latvijas Valsts ceļi (LVC).

The biggest traffic restrictions due to road repairs on the main roads in Pieriga are on the Tallinn highway (A1) in the section from Vidzeme highway to the Alder turn, where the speed limit is 70 and 50 km / h, as well as on the Riga bypass A5 (Salaspils – Babite), where a narrowed carriageway at the road overpass near Jaunmārupe and a speed limit of 70 and 50 km / h has been set. On the highway Riga – Jaunmārupe (P132), traffic is transferred to one lane with priority signs.

In autumn weather conditions, LVC urges drivers to be especially careful and cautious. It should be noted that go to work in the morning, but in the evenings now come home in the dark or at dusk. Some sections of the road may be covered with wet, fallen tree leaves, which can cause the roads to be slippery, while aquaplaning can occur during the rain. Gravel roads can be wet and harder to navigate due to rain.

SJSC “Latvijas Valsts ceļi” is invited to inform about dampened road sections and other driving difficulties on state roads by calling the 24-hour free information line 80005555.
