Renovated and insulated Levita residence in Jurmala – Society and politics – News

This will reduce the heat consumption of the building by up to 50%. Simultaneously with the insulation of the building, an interior design project has been implemented and a minor cosmetic repair has been carried out.

Griškevičs noted that in 2019, funding from the European Regional Development Fund was attracted to increase the energy efficiency of the building in order to optimize the costs of maintaining the residence of the President in the long run. 481,710 euros have been invested in construction works, which are co-financed by European Union (EU) funds and VNI real estate investments.

The necessity of the President’s residence and its location in Jūrmala is determined by law. VNĪ takes care of the building, external walls, but the interior of the residence is arranged by the Chancellery of the President in accordance with the needs of the representation of the President.

In parallel with the building insulation works, at the request of the Chancellery of the President, the interior of the building was cosmetically restored, restoring the floor coverings, walls and ceilings that have been worn over the years, as well as finishing the interior windows after the energy efficiency project.

At the same time, an interior design project has been implemented on the first floor of the building, which serves a representative function – meetings and official talks. The design project was created by architect Elita Pole (SIA “Heinrihs un Pole”). Within the framework of the project, furniture for formal and informal conversations, built-in shelves and chairs for concerts were purchased – a total of about 100 units for 58,290 euros, as well as curtains and carpets were delivered for 5,650 euros.

The last major renovation of the Presidential residence in Jūrmala was completed in 2009.

All the presidents of the restored Latvia, except Andris Bērziņš – Guntis Ulmanis, Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, Valdis Zatlers, Raimonds Vējonis – have lived in the Presidential Residence in Jūrmala, Meirovica Boulevard 31.

VNĪ was founded in 1996 and its sole owner is the Ministry of Finance.
