Our country has built up a strategic stock of the Covid drug remdesivir. Good news, you would think. Only, that drug may not work. The World Health Organization (WHO) commissioned a large-scale study in which more than 2,000 Covid patients were treated with remdesivir. Conclusion? “Remdesivir did not appear to have a significant effect on patients’ chances of survival. It also did not reduce the length of hospital admissions or reduce the number of patients on a ventilator.” That information was sent to all governments around the world via a press release on October 15. One day later, on October 16, Director General Tedros Adhanom underlined the remarkable conclusions of the largest remdesivir study in the world during a briefing. “The interim results show that the drug has little or no effect.”
