After a month-long break, many people in the cities and regions enjoyed the Corona easing on weekends. The state capital could follow this week.
A bit of sun and after a long Corona break also a shopping spree or a break in a café in the city: in Heidelberg, Karlsruhe and other regions, the Corona emergency brake was loosened at Whitsun. In doing so, people largely obeyed the rules. However, the rather cool weather, for example on Lake Constance, did not attract so many people outside at the weekend.
It looked similar in the Swabian Alb and in the northern Black Forest, where popular excursion destinations opened again on the Whitsun weekend for the first time after the Corona break. The rush of visitors did not come here either. Some cave visitors came, but significantly fewer than on the earlier Whitsun weekends, said the operators of the bear and fog caves in Sonnenbühl on the Swabian Alb. It was the same in the wolf and bear park in Bad Rippoldsau-Schapbach in the Freudenstadt district. The rush of visitors at the weekend did not materialize, according to managing director Bernd Nonnenmacher. He believes compulsory testing is a deterrent. Numerous campers – but no rush of tourists – reported the Baiersbronn tourist information office. The reason could be that not all restaurants have reopened, it said.
Riot on Heidelberg Neckarwiese
In Heidelberg, however, the corona measures were also disregarded. Hundreds of people celebrated there on the weekend until the mood changed and the police intervened. Young partiers rioted and sometimes threw bottles at officials. In the Neckarstadt, the stricter measures as part of the Corona emergency brake were already relaxed on Thursday. On Saturday, therefore, many people moved into the city, a lively pedestrian zone and full terraces were the result. Traffic jams formed around Heidelberg.

Several circles relaxed on Whit Sunday and Monday
The rush in Karlsruhe was also great on Saturday after the city district was allowed to loosen the federal emergency brake. The open-air swimming pools also opened in the fan-shaped city.
