TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir stated the plan to acquire PT Rekayasa Industri from PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) by PT Pertamina (Persero) still cannot be realized.
He revealed that the plan was still hampered by internal problems at Pertamina. According to him, the plan is still not in line between the company’s board of commissioners and the company’s board of directors.
“Indeed, there are still obstacles at Pertamina’s internal meeting between the directors and commissioners, but maybe give me time, maybe this month we will call the commissioners to see if they can implement the program that was given at that time,” said Erick Thohir in a working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Thursday, June 3, 2021.
Erick revealed, the Ministry of SOEs has issued a decision letter for Rekind (Industrial Engineering) to be synergized with Pertamina since 2018. However, Pertamina has not yet been able to realize this.
According to him, it is better for Rekind to be synergized with Pertamina considering that there will be many refinery development projects. This synergy is considered to be able to further smooth out Pertamina’s development plan.
“Moreover, now there is a petrochemical refinery and others compared to both fertilizers,” he said.
Rekind’s acquisition plan by Pertamina has been sticking out since the days of the Minister of SOEs Dahlan Iskan. He has long urged Pertamina to acquire Rekind so that Pertamina can have expertise in construction and engineering, including to build refineries and other energy infrastructure.
