Reissues from Doom and Doom II get patch for 60fps – Gaming – News

quite special, because I am not at all annoyed by the graphics quality that you are talking about. I even prefer to play doom in the original 320×200 resolution and there are more dos games that way. We know that it’s outdated. It’s nostalgia man, and I think the graphics are cool. And I don’t think all those new graphics are that great at all, it has taken far too long and it is just commonplace that games look good nowadays, but at the same time I don’t really care … The big steps that were taken in the past were really spectacular, and also in very short time.

Well I do agree that there was a time when games were really ugly, mainly in the transition to 3D acceleration. Super blurry textures and low poly shite, I always thought that was ugly, but I think a lot of dos games are just aesthetically correct, as art-style. And yes, play slightly older versions of games (such as Farcry), then you will indeed see those little things that are slightly less. I understand, but farcry is also not nearly as exciting as Doom : P I really can’t even play those last few Farcry games, it’s always the same and it’s just not fun anymore ..

Paying money for reissues is indeed absurd, of course enthusiasts like me have had a whole DOSbox collection ready for a long time. All dosgames from when I was 2 to 12 years old or something including all mods, maps and adjustments that I made myself at the time. …. eh damn now I suddenly want to play Ultima Underworld again : P
