In a nationally televised address on Wednesday, Pashinyan said Armenia had suffered “heavy casualties”.

“I submit to all our victims, the martyrs, their families, their parents, and especially their mothers. I consider their loss to be my loss, my personal loss, the loss of my family,” Pashinyan said.

“We all need to know that we are facing a difficult situation,” he added.

Pashinyan said that despite “the loss of manpower and equipment”, the Armenian army was still in general control in inflicting “considerable manpower and equipment losses on the enemy.”

“This is not a statement of despair or loss of hope. I am giving this information because I am committed to telling the truth to our people,” he said.

“We have to win, we have to live, we have to build history us, and we are building our history, our new story, our new heroic battle “.

What else happened?

Azerbaijan’s president, Ilham Aliyev, accused Armenia on Wednesday of attacking its oil and gas pipelines.

“Armenia is trying to attack and take control of our pipeline,” he said in an interview with Turkish broadcaster Haberturk.

“If Armenia tries to take over the pipeline there, I can say that the impact will be very bad for them.”

Azerbaijan’s defense ministry also said it had destroyed ballistic missile launchers on Armenian territory targeting its cities.

Armenian defense ministry spokesman Shushan Stepanyan confirmed that several of their defensive positions had been attacked, but denied that Armenian forces fired “a single missile, bullet or projectile” into Azerbaijan, the news agency reported. AFP.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone on Wednesday, in their first phone calls since clashes broke out.

“They stressed the urgent need for a concerted effort to end the bloodshed as quickly as possible and move towards a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem,” the Kremlin said.
