Childcare centers may refuse children who have not been vaccinated. The House of Representatives approved Tuesday afternoon with this D66 initiative bill.

The chance that the Senate also agrees is high, because the parties who voted in favor of Tuesday also have a majority there.
“Only an interim solution”
If it is up to SKSG childcare, the new law does not go far enough. “This is just an interim solution,” says spokesman Guido Heeringa.
“We don’t think this is going far enough. SKSG would like to see compulsory national vaccination, so that children are protected in all places. After all, there are still many environments where children are not protected, such as a swimming pool, library or playground. ‘
SKSG is now examining the consequences of the adopted bill for daily activities.
Fear of the origin of infection
‘In any case, it raises many questions. What about privacy? What do you do with parents who cannot hand over a vaccination certificate? How do you check whether a baby has actually been vaccinated? ‘
Doctors are also less enthusiastic about the law, because they fear that there will be outbreaks of infection, because unvaccinated children all go to the same school.
Less than 95 percent vaccinated
Whether or not to vaccinate has been the subject of discussion for some time. The vaccination rate in the Netherlands has fallen to below 95 percent. According to the World Health Organization, that is officially the safe border.
According to Heeringa, SKSG will only introduce a new policy once the Senate has also given its opinion on the bill. “So we keep an eye on current events.”
