Ranni: Ranni panchayat president Sobha Charlie, who won with the support of BJP members, was expelled from the LDF. The move comes after the LDF leadership demanded his resignation but refused to resign. BJP members also voted for Sobha Charlie, a member of the Kerala Congress Mani faction who was fielded as the Left’s presidential candidate.
The CPM leadership intervened as the issue was widely discussed in the state. He held discussions with the Kerala Congress leadership. But the Kerala Congress did not ask Sobha to resign. With this, the LDF expelled Sobha Charlie from the five-member parliamentary party.
LDF panchayat convener TN Sivankutty also issued a one-line official statement in this regard. Shobha Charlie, meanwhile, said she did not know the information leaked. The Congress has also come out with allegations that the LDF’s stand on expelling only Sobha is eye-popping.
