Books – Ayman Gilberto:

Gamal El-Ghandour, Chairman of the Referees Committee of the Egyptian Football Association, confirmed that a foreign crew will be used in the matter of assistive video referee technology “VAR” in the top matches between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

The Egyptian Football Federation has previously announced the activation of the video assistant referee technology in the league matches, and the start was during the 19th Vanguard and Enppi match in the 19th round.

The Referees Committee appointed Ibrahim Nour El Din as the main referee of the video, and Mostafa Shahdy helps him in the Ismaili and El Gouna match in the 18th round of the league competition.

Gamal El-Ghandour said in his statements to “On Sport” “for many years, there is a ministerial decision regarding the use of foreign referees for the top matches between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, not because of the inefficiency of the Egyptian government, but to avoid problems and crises.”

“Also in the upcoming matches, and despite the presence of video referee technology, foreign referees will be brought to the top matches in order to prevent gossip, and the matter is not related to the level or efficiency of the Egyptian arbitration.”

“In the summit matches, too, a foreign crew will be brought in to manage the video technology. The crew will not be foreign and Egyptian for the video,” he said.

He stressed, “In the last super match, after the presence of assisted video referee technology was established, we did not seek the help of Egyptian referees, and also the UAE federation preferred not to appoint referees from his side, and a foreign crew came to assume the task of managing the mouse.”

He continued, “It is possible that a fateful decision will be taken by the video referee. If the crew is Egyptian in the top matches, you may find the same accusations and problems.”

The Football Association did not specify the date for the match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek in the second round of the Premier League competition.

He continued, “During the game of Enppi and the advance of the army, the referee was always alert to the players that there are cameras that monitor all the details, and therefore there was no objection from them on the decisions.”

“We are implementing all the instructions set by the International Federation, as well as IFAP on the technique of video governance,” concluded the Chairman of the Referees Committee.
