Employees of the Michelin group can buy brand tires to equip their personal vehicle. They pay around 25% of the public price, explains France Bleu Loire Océan.
Employees who will leave the Michelin group after the closure of the La Roche-sur-Yon (Vendée) factory, scheduled for the end of 2020, will have to reimburse the tires of their cars bought at low prices , reports Saturday, February 1, France Bleu Loire Océan.
The closure of the Vendée factory was announced on October 10, 2019. Last week, management said it wanted “as a priority” that the 619 employees could continue their careers within the group. But those who leave Michelin will therefore have to return or reimburse the tires of their personal cars, which they had at an advantageous price, 25% of the price of the public. If they choose reimbursement, the price will vary depending on wear.
“Getting us to work in the Michelin group and charging us for tires when we are laid off is very small”, gets annoyed Anthony Guilloteau, CGT union delegate, at the microphone of France Bleu Loire Océan.
Contacted by Franceinfo, Michelin’s communication indicates that this is a “normal” procedure linked to benefits in kind, and that this concerns all employees who leave the company, whatever the reason.
