Reduced sentence for murderer who helped kill terrorist

In Great Britain, a convicted murderer has received a reduced sentence because he managed to eliminate the perpetrator in an attack in London in November last year. The attacker had recently stabbed two people to death near London Bridge.

Steven Gallant, 42, was sentenced to 17 years in prison for murder in 2005. In 2019 he attended a conference in a room close to London Bridge as part of his rehabilitation program.

The terrorist Usman Khan was there too. He was convicted in 2012 of planning a London bombing.

Khan suddenly took out two knives, stabbed two conference organizers, and ran. Neither victim survived the attack.

One of them was Gallant’s companion. He didn’t change his mind, ripped a five-foot-long whale tooth off a wall and chased Khan.

Gallant and others managed to stop Khan on London Bridge. Shortly afterwards, the police shot Khan dead.

Images of Khan’s shooting. These images can be experienced as shocking. Gallant is presumably visible in the background. He’s not the man with a stabbing weapon in the foreground.
