Redmi 9 & Redmi Note 9 maybe already in the starting blocks?

The Xiaomi Global Vice President has announced on Twitter that Redmi has new smartphones for 2020 in the starting blocks. The announcement was launched on Twitter in the form of a small video with the message “Coming Soon”. However, details of the new devices have not been revealed. Neither does it matter whether the Redmi 9 or the Redmi Note 9 will be launched first.

Here is the Xiaomi Vice President’s Twitter post:

Is the Redmi Note 9 coming first?

A look into the past at least leads to the suspicion that the Redmi Note 9 is the first Redmi smartphone 2020 to bring the light of day. The Redmi Note 7 was presented in February last year in India. Then the smartphone appeared in China and Europe. The previous release cycle seems realistic, at least in that the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8a are still quite young with a release in October 2019. The Redmi Note 8 was released at least in August 2019.

Almost nothing is known about the specifications of the Redmi Note 9. According to Slashleaks, there is only a punch-hole notch in the room.

Redmi Note 9 leak

But one thing can be said. If Xiaomi remains true to its previous approach, the Redmi Note 9 will traditionally bring some improvements over the Redmi Note 8. The Redmi Note 8 was only a marign upgrade of the Redmi Note 7. The Redmi Note 7, on the other hand, was a major upgrade to the Redmi Note 6 Pro, which in turn was only a small upgrade of the Redmi Note 5. We therefore expect a few nice features such as a 64 megapixel camera sensor and a faster processor from the Snapdragon 7XX series.

Redmi 9 – at least a few “leaks”

While the specifications of the Redmi Note 9 are still somewhat vague, there are at least a few guesses regarding the Redmi 9. This should now have an even larger screen size of 6.6 inches. According to 91mobiles, a Mediatek Helio G70 processor should also be used. Since the Redmi Note 8 Pro already used a Helio G90 processor, we think this is realistic. Not much is known about the CPU yet, but the processor should be more powerful than the Snapdragon 439 in the Redmi 8. In addition, Redmi could save money by using a cheaper Mediatek processor to finally equip the display with Full HD resolution. At the latest with a 6.6 inch screen size, this would be a welcome and necessary step.
