Recount confirms Joe Biden’s profit in Georgia

The vote recount in the US state of Georgia has not changed the election results in that state. That means that Joe Biden will keep the state and the 16 electors associated with the win. It is the first time since 1992 that a Democrat has won the state.

According to the authorities, the recount of the approximately 5 million ballots was necessary because the margin between President Trump and future President Joe Biden was very small. After the first count he was about 14,000 votes ahead, now the lead is 12,284 votes.

“The recount confirms that the original machine count accurately reflects the winner of the election,” said Interior Minister Raffensperger in a statement. “Every vote was touched by an employee and counted.” Biden’s victory is expected to be officially confirmed tomorrow.

Recount can still be requested

Errors were discovered during the recount. Thus, about 2500 ballots were found that were not taken in the first count. More than 1,600 of those votes went to Trump. Memory cards were also found with voices that had not been registered.

President Trump can still request a recount in Georgia because the profit margin is less than the 0.5 percent legally required. He has two working days for this. That recount will not be by hand, but by machine. According to the AP news agency, Biden is on 306 electors and Trump on 232. Four years ago, Trump won the state, with a margin of about five percent.

Trump also filed for a partial recount in the state of Wisconsin yesterday after raising the $ 3 million needed to do so. In this state, 800,000 ballots are recounted in two Democratic districts, but it seems unlikely that the president will get the 20,608 votes needed to win the state.

Biden: Trump’s attitude “irresponsible”

Last night, Biden said in an online meeting with governors that he finds President Trump’s stance “completely irresponsible”. His refusal to recognize the results of the presidential election is damaging the reputation of democracy, according to Biden.

According to the president-to-be, Trump is entering the history books as “one of the most irresponsible presidents” of the United States. “It’s hard to comprehend how this man thinks,” said Biden. “It’s just outrageous what he’s doing.”

Biden doesn’t think most Americans will question the accuracy of the election results. “The vast majority of people believe the result is legitimate.”
