Record viewing figures and ‘right now if necessary’, yet DWDD stops tonight

“Jesus, how I miss the audience in this studio. How they sat around us. How they moaned and laughed around us. Or how they cried. And how they turned Matthijs on every night”, said writer Nico Dijkshoorn last Wednesday during his last performance in The world moves on. He was a guest there for eleven years, in a studio full of audience. Tonight is the last broadcast and it is, just like the past two weeks, without an audience.

When presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk announced in early February to stop, no one could have imagined that in a few weeks the world would be so changed by the corona virus. Matthijs started the support act every day at a quarter past six, in which he warmed up the audience, put the guests at ease, had fun and enjoyed the music that the invited bands performed especially for the preshow. “

And of course a festive last broadcast with lots of music, because music is just part of DWDD,” said Misev, who is responsible for the last broadcast.

In the past few weeks, attention has already been paid to the approaching farewell, including emotional performances by regular guests in the program:
