This question has been popping up a lot lately. This is due to the ongoing spread of Covid-19 cases.

Many people also buy up various food supplements and vitamins as an effort to prevent and strengthen the immune system, so they don’t get sick easily. In fact, many people believe that consuming high doses of vitamin C and vitamin D can increase immunity and avoid Covid-19 infection.

Since the Covid-19 case soared, various doses of vitamins, both vitamin C and vitamin D, were being hunted by the public.

Professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy UGM, Prof. Dr. Zullies Ikawati, Apt, said several studies revealed that on average people have low levels of vitamin D consumption.

“Therefore, additional vitamins are needed (intake of vitamins from outside). Meanwhile, the need for daily preventive vitamin D, to maintain health, a dose of vitamin D of around 500IU or 400IU to 1000IU is sufficient,” said Prof. Zullies to Kompas.com, Wednesday (7/7/). 2021).

Dosage of vitamin D for Covid-19 To note, Prof. Zullies said that indeed vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E, are closely related to the immune system.

Although it doesn’t matter if vitamin intake can be obtained by taking supplements, basically a source of vitamin D can be obtained from healthy foods and sunlight.

“Actually, sources of vitamin D can also be obtained from food and sunlight, namely by sunbathing every morning. This is enough to meet the body’s daily vitamin D needs,” said Prof. Zullies. Vitamins are needed for the body to maintain the body’s immune system.
