Merdeka.com – This year is a very good time to see the planets in our solar system. Five planets will be visible in the sky at the end of March.
This is a rare phenomenon and should not be missed.
Quoted from the Indy100 page, Wednesday (22/3), five planets namely Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Mars will be visible simultaneously on the evening of March 28.
According to the Star Walk app, from sunset, “two very bright objects” namely Mercury (magnitude -1.3) and Jupiter (magnitude -2.1) will be visible near the horizon, in the constellation Pisces.
At a more distant point, in the constellation Aries, Venus will be visible with a magnitude of -4.0. Meanwhile, it is recommended to use binoculars if you want to see Uranus with a magnitude of 5.8 which is close to Venus.
Much higher still, Mars will be visible, being in close proximity to the first quarter Moon in the constellation Gemini.
Even though March 28 is the best day to see these five planets, the view can also be seen some before and after that date.
According to Sky & Telescope editor Rick Fienberg, this rare sight can be seen depending on our location.
“Unless you have clear skies and a nearly flat western horizon with no obstructions like trees or buildings, you won’t see Jupiter and Mercury,” he explained.
This is because Jupiter and Mercury will be near the horizon so it will be very low in the west just after sunset.
Feinberg said Venus would be the brightest in the sky, while Mars would also be visible with a recognizable orange hue.
Meanwhile, Uranus will be the most difficult planet to see without using equipment.
