BRUSSELS – Belgian hospitals are faced with an unprecedented influx of corona patients. According to health institute Sciensano, 5,924 hospital beds have been occupied by people infected with the virus, the highest number since the start of the pandemic. During the first wave of the corona outbreak in Belgium, the number of patients admitted peaked at 5759.
