Reconstruction of Wiener Neubaugasse has started

The months of renovation of Wiener Neubaugasse into a meeting area started on Monday as planned. The 13A can therefore not drive through the shopping street until autumn. The busy bus line has therefore been on the move since today’s start of operations. For the time being, the section between Burg- and Siebensterngasse is closed to motorists.

The divided lines ran smoothly, the Wiener Linien assured. The bus is expected to run between Alser Straße and the U3 Volkstheater station and between the main train station and the U3 station at Neubaugasse until September. After the conversion has been completed, the 13A will drive through the Neubaugasse again – for the first time in both directions.

Restrictions for drivers

There are also restrictions for drivers during the construction work. The block between Burg- and Siebensterngasse, which has been in effect since Monday morning, is expected to be extended to Lindengasse in April.

The Neubaugasse will be paved at the same level throughout the coming months and equipped with new trees, seating and spray mist systems for hot summer days. There are no more parking spaces in the street. In the future encounter zone, all road users have equal rights and may use the entire width of the street. The speed limit is 20 kilometers per hour.
