Recent Status Report on Ukrainian Counter-Offensive by Sjoigu: Contradicting Statements from Ukrainian Defense

On Tuesday, he gave a status report to military leaders in Moscow on the Ukrainian counter-offensive, which has been ongoing since this summer.

Sjoigu stated that recent attacks in the Bakhmut and Soledar areas of Donetsk have been repulsed. He also claims Ukraine’s attempts to break through Russian defense lines in Robotyne and Verkhovoe have failed.

Sjoigu’s statements contradict recent statements from the Ukrainian defense about several successful advances in these areas.

Russia currently has 335,000 soldiers contributing to the war in Ukraine, according to Sjoigu. A new mobilization is therefore not necessary, he says.
