Orkla informs VG that they are recalling all dietary supplements and medicines from Husk from the market after a salmonella outbreak in Denmark.
– We can not have uncertainty about our brands. That is why we are now recalling all Husk products, says Håkon Mageli, Executive Vice President for Communications at Orkla, to VG.
– We recommend consumers who have the products at home to throw them away, says Mageli.
In Norway, dietary supplements apply, while in other countries, Husk drugs are also distributed.
– Do you know that Norwegian customers have become ill?
– No, we have no information that Norwegian consumers have been harmed, says Mageli.
Three deaths are linked to the products
Three people have died and 19 people have been hospitalized in connection with a salmonella outbreak that is linked to the supplement Husk, reports Danish Statens Serum Institut Thursday.
– This is the first time that we have been able to point to a dietary supplement as the cause of salmonella outbreaks, Luise Müller in SSI told DR on Thursday afternoon.
So far, no connection has been proven between the deaths and the product, but the three cases are all linked to the Husk products.
Mageli says that Orkla will now go through purchasing and production routines.
– We will do everything in our power to get us back on the market with this product as soon as possible.
Recalled products Monday
As early as Monday, it was announced that Orkla Health AS has withdrawn the dietary supplement Remember Stomach Balance Fiber Basic, a dietary supplement that is sold in pharmacies, among other things, marked best before the date on 09.2023 and batch number 505434. 2808 packages of the product are sold in pharmacies throughout the country.
Now all Husk products are withdrawn.
