Rebekka Timmer elected new party chairman BIJ1 | NOW

The 22-year-old Rebekka Timmer was elected the new party chairman by the members of BIJ1 on Saturday. She received 74 percent of the vote, a party spokesperson said. Timmer was previously on the board of BIJ1 and is an employee of the House of Representatives faction.

After her opponent Jursica Mills suddenly withdrew last week, Timmer was the only remaining candidate for the party chairmanship. Former party chairman Mills resigned in protest at the “toxicity and favoritism” within the party.
