Singer Rebeca Pous Tears Up Discussing caregiving Role for Mother
Madrid, Spain – Singer Rebeca Pous became emotional during a recent interview on the And now Sonsoles program, detailing the complexities of her relationship with her mother, Franciska, and the sacrifices she’s made as a caregiver. Pous described a dynamic that has evolved beyond a traditional mother-daughter bond,stating,”It’s a relationship that goes beyond mother and daughter. I believe that I have been more of her mother for many years.”
The artist explained that she stepped into a parental role following her father’s illness, and particularly after her mother suffered a domestic accident in 2024. “I am an only child, I have a family, but I don’t have it present,” Pous shared, emphasizing the weight of duty she carries.
Pous confessed to feeling isolated despite support from her children and friends, saying, “Sometimes I find myself very alone and if it weren’t for my children and my friends who give me a hand with it I don’t know what I would do.” her mother has expressed a strong preference for her care, confiding, “She doesn’t want to be with anyone else but me.”
The situation has created tension,with Pous’s mother expressing a desire for her to abandon her singing career for a more conventional job. pous responded,”He tells me that I wish I would stop singing and had a normal job and I tell him that with a normal job I would see myself less.”
The singer revealed the emotional toll of witnessing her mother’s distress,stating the hardest part is “seeing her cry” when she leaves. Breaking down during the interview, Pous asserted, “it’s very elaborate because I also have the right to live.” Despite the challenges, she expressed her love and hope for continued companionship, acknowledging her mother’s loneliness while also recognizing her own years of sacrifice.
Pous expressed a simple wish – a weekend getaway with her partner – which remains unfulfilled due to her caregiving commitments. She concluded by reflecting on her life, stating, “It’s wrong for me to say it, but I think the greatest thing I have done is be a great daughter.”
