Indonesian National Team Coach Shin Tae Yong revealed the reason for asking PSSI to continue the naturalization process Jordi Amat who has just joined the Malaysian club Johor Darul Takzim (JDT).
Shin Tae Yong actually hopes Jordi will continue his career in Europe. However, Shin still respects Jordi’s personal decision to join JDT.
“From the coach’s point of view, they really want to continue the naturalization process because Jordi’s individual abilities have been proven,” said Shin Tae Yong.

“It also doesn’t make sense that he has sacrificed himself for the national team. The time for playing in Malaysia is not continuing. That’s not true,” added Shin Tae Yong.
Jordi Amat’s decision to join JDT had attracted the attention of netizens. The former Swansea City player is considered to have only used Indonesian citizenship to fulfill the quota of Asian foreign players at JDT.
Jordi Amat’s naturalization was rejected by Commission X DPR RI. Member of Commission X DPR RI Syaiful Huda said Jordi Amat did not have long prospects in the Indonesian national team.
In addition, a handful of Indonesian fans are also worried that Jordi will experience a decline in quality if he appears in the Malaysian League.
However, Shin Tae Yong believes Jordi’s quality will not decrease because he already has the technique and insight as a European footballer.
“I don’t think there will be a decline because I believe in the ability of the players,” said the South Korean coach.
