Real Madrid or Barcelona? Where will Erling Haaland finally anchor and what would be best for him?

As Kylian Mbappé is one foot in Real Madrid, Erling Haaland is becoming the hottest commodity in the transfer market. But which team would be best for him?

According to several fairly credible sources from Spain, Erling Haaland prefers a transfer to La Liga, ideally to Real Madrid or Barcelona. He doesn’t like the Premier League, after all, when his agent Mino Raiola named the clubs he could move to, he fired two Spanish giants first.

So let’s only count on the variant that Haaland will actually go to Spain in the summer. However, he has a choice, it is worth it both in the capital in Madrid and in the east in Catalonia. What are the advantages and disadvantages of moving to individual clubs?

Real Madrid

A clear option if Haaland wants to win trophies immediately. Real Madrid is building more galácticos, together with Mbappém and Vinícius, a Norwegian attacker could create an offensive trio of dreams that can cast a spell for another 10 years. At the same time, they are no longer talent in the future, they are all ready-made footballers, so they could start winning right away.

Experienced football players such as Kroos, Modrič, Benzema, Alaba, Casemiro, from whom he could gain further experience. In addition, Real Madrid is building an ultra-modern stadium that will be the best in the world. It can also be a certain motivation to board this booth regularly.

So what are the disadvantages? He doesn’t always do good when too big stars play together. Haaland is from Dortmund, used to play everything for him, he is the main face of the team. Now he would have to share all the chances, penalties and attention with Mbappé, or even Vinícius. And we don’t count Benzem, which will turn 35 next year, but its performance is still at a huge level.

In practice, this is the only obstacle to Haaland’s move to Madrid. Whether both players could raise their egos so they could play together. If they succeeded, it would be difficult for anyone to stop the White Ballet. And the motivation to win the Champions League and the Golden Ball is the biggest in football, isn’t it?

Barcelona

At first glance, there are not many reasons why Haaland should want to move to Barcelona. The Catalans are drowning in a huge crisis, they have no money, they cannot register new reinforcements, they cannot offer new players big salaries, the staff has weakly weakened and it is not at all certain whether they will reach the next year’s Champions League.

However, there is one thing that corresponds to the position in Real Madrid. While a 21-year-old Norwegian would not be the only star in a white jersey, in Barcelona it would be almost Haaland FC. Culés would build everything around Haaland, he would be an indispensable star, the main marketing face of the club and, in case of success, a complete idol.

Some players want this more than team success. Take a look at Neymar, who for the same reason moved from a functioning Barcelona to PSG, where he was the main face. Haaland knows what he’s set in his head at the moment.

In addition, although Barcelona is in a terrible state, it still has a huge sound and is one of the three largest clubs in the world. If the management takes good steps, Culés may be at the top again in the future – Pedri 19 years old, Gavi 17 years old, Ansu Fati 19 years old, Nico 20 years old.

And Haaland could be part of this redevelopment. It is almost certain that Barcelona will recover in a few years and will once again be a strong player in the field of European football.

Fan view

Whatever the outcome, the football fan will probably not be able to complain. In the case of the first variant, we would see Mbappé working with Haaland in one team, which could be a fantastic spectacle.

If a Norwegian footballer chose to leave for Catalonia, another rivalry would be born for several years ahead, which would be strongly reminiscent of that of the last decade. On the side of Real Madrid Mbappé, on the side of Barcelona Haaland, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi competed together for many years.

El Clásico and La Liga in general would receive a huge charge, and the Spanish League would in turn take over from the Premier League a piece of viewership and attractiveness that has passed from the Iberian Peninsula to the British Isles in recent years.
