Reading, writing and art had their place in Los Reartes

by Ethan Caldwell

Last weekend, a new edition of the writers’ meeting and book fair was held in Los Reartes. For three days, the active meeting point was the Salón de Usos Múltiples in the small town of Calamuchita.

On Friday, 500 children from different schools in the region participated in the “Third Anthology”, in which 16 institutions participated with their stories, customs, and legends.

Bookshops, institutions and writers took part in the book fair, which was open to the public for the purchase of copies from different publishers.

In addition, book presentations, text readings, literary workshops and live music performances were held over three days.

Among the well-known writers who presented their books were Cintia Scacciaferro “Cinwololo”, “Fanue”, Mario Nosotti, and Esteban Castroman.

The director of culture and tourism of the town, Sergio Martina, reflected: “We have lived through three days, where words have taken on the importance that allows us to celebrate that despite everything, hope for a better world remains standing.”

Visual arts

Within the framework of the 14th meeting of writers and book fair, an exhibition of works by artists from the Calamuchita Valley was held, which was open to the public throughout the weekend.

“With the intention of resuming the “Cultural Corridor” initiated between 2021 and 2022 between the central-western region of the Calamuchita Department and the southern region of the Río Cuarto Department, 38 Plastic Artists from 11 localities of the Calamuchita Department were invited to join this Exhibition,” indicated the Commune of Los Reartes.

The town of Los Reartes is the headquarters of this cultural project, since it was declared of Cultural Interest, through the signing of communal resolution No. 2316 in 2021.

“The aim is to continue the exchange between both regions over the next few months, with the aim of laying the foundations for the Cultural Corridor,” the Commune reported.
