TAHITI, August 30, 2020 – Oldelaf and Alain Berthier tell Michel Montana, in music and humor. Their show, entitled La Folle histoire de Michel Montana, is being continued. It will take place next weekend.
Olivier Delafosse, alias Oldelaf and Alexandre Zapata, alias Alain Berthier form a duo which is “like a magical story”. The two artists have a great respect for each other but also for the public they seduce today by taking the great arias of singer Michel Montana. They engage in a funny interview, just like their show.
Tahiti Info: Could you describe your duo? Who are you and each other but also with each other?
Alain Berthier: “I have a lot of affection for Oldelaf, he follows me everywhere and as he is very clean, I don’t mind. It requires relatively little maintenance and you just need to feed it at a fixed time. Affectionate and faithful, he quickly became attached to me. Ultimately, Oldelaf is an ideal companion as long as he doesn’t sing. Our duo is like a magical story, we are more than friends, we are brothers, almost a family.
It was indeed Oldelaf’s mother who entrusted me with custody for a relatively modest sum of money. Since then, he has watched me write and compose. We have developed a very close relationship. We open up, we cry in each other’s arms, we laugh … Besides, people who know us usually say that we are a little like the two fingers of the hand.”
Oldelaf: “It’s not really a duo. Everything is really focused on me. Alain is an occasional foil that his parents entrusted to me to make him understand the difficulty of life. In exchange for having the right to humiliate him on stage, I feed him and make him discover the world.”
Tahiti Info: Who is Michel Montana for you? Why did you choose this artist?
Alain Berthier: “It’s hard to answer this question without spoiling the show. All I can tell you is that in Usual suspect we only discover at the end that it is Kevin Spacey who plays the role of Keyser Söze. ”
Oldelaf: “Quite simply because Michel Montana, for us and for the whole world, is certainly ‘The’ or one of the greatest singers of the 20th century. He invented everything in music and especially in song. So the choice was easy. And anyway, the show we had planned to do on the Nazi pedophiles dwarf throwers was refused to us by the Papeete prefecture..”
Tahiti Info: What does music add to a “story”?
Alain Berthier: “This is very handy for making the audience understand when the jokes are. For example, when Oldelaf does a pun, right after I do a little drum roll. It is much clearer like that. In sitcoms, they put pre-recorded laughs. At the beginning, we did that too, but we quickly returned to the drums because the pre-recorded laughs, it’s a little artificial all the same.”
Oldelaf: “To understand it, you have to listen to the song ‘Fruit de la passion’ by Franky Vincent. With music, it’s a zouk. Without the music it’s an admission of guilt from a frustrated old pervert.”
Tahiti Info: On the basis of what elements did you put together your show?
Alain Berthier: “We obviously worked exclusively from documents and sources known for their objectivity, their ethics and their reliability, such as the blog jeuxvideo.com.”
Oldelaf: “On the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which, in article 23.9, specifies that ‘Every man is born free and has the right to put on a show on Michel Montana’, on the one hand, and on the other hand on the declaration to Pôle Emploi for unemployment allowance. Tahiti Info: You have been to Tahiti before, how would you describe the Polynesian public?
Alain Berthier: “Tahiti is one of the most wonderful places we like to come and play, and not just because it’s one of the few countries where the minors’ brigade has not forbidden us access.
The Polynesian audience is beautiful, warm, and speaks French much better than the Germans, for example, who generally don’t understand much of the sophisticated humor of our show. ”
Oldelaf: “Indeed, twice, we were lucky enough to set foot on Tahiti soil. For me who live in metropolitan France, the best definition of the Polynesian public is that it is far away.”
Tahiti Info: Will Michel Montana appeal to the Polynesian public and if so, why?
Alain Berthier: “I sincerely wish that Michel Montana will please the Polynesian public, just as much as I can assure you of our immense happiness to come back to play on this magnificent island populated by wonderful people. ”
Oldelaf: “I think that our festive conference on Michel Montana will necessarily please here because on the one hand, the texts are fiercely well put together and the music wonderful, and on the other hand because we secretly broadcast a copious dose of laughing gas during the performances.”
