Vancouver, BC – rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) has officially announced the timeline for its 2025 Annual Meeting, including crucial deadlines for director nominations. the organization is urging members to take note of these dates to ensure full participation in the governance process.

The final deadline for submitting nominations in the proper form is August 19, 2025. RCA emphasizes that no further nominations will be accepted after this date. these nominations will be included in the Notice of the Annual Meeting and featured on ballot forms for the online election. Detailed information regarding the nomination process can be found in Section 11 of the RCA By-Laws.

Voting for the 2025 RCA Annual Meeting will be conducted electronically.Members in Good Standing as of August 28, 2025, will be eligible to cast their votes online, with no proxy voting permitted. The secure online voting system will open on August 29, 2025, and close at 12 noon PDT on September 17, 2025. Results will be announced during the RCA Annual Meeting on September 18, 2025.

A specific nomination process applies to the position of Athlete Director, where the Nominating Committee will solicit a nomination from the National Team.

Individuals seeking to stand for election as a director must meet specific eligibility criteria,as outlined in RCA By-laws 9.3. Candidates do not necessarily need to be Registered Participants but must comply with the requirements of the canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act and the Income Tax Act concerning directors of registered charities. Moreover, they cannot be President of a Provincial Rowing association (though they may stand for election as a director of CARA, requiring immediate resignation from the provincial position if elected), and must not be under inquiry or subject to suspension by CARA or any other relevant sporting organization at the time of the election.
