R&B singer R. Kelly sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexual abuse and sexual exploitation

Kelly’s lawyers had recently suggested that he should face a maximum of 10 years in prison, because he had a traumatic childhood “with sexual abuse, poverty and violence”. At the same time, as an artist, he was “regularly financially abused” by people who had just had to defend his interests.
