Mohamed Rayhi is leaving Sparta Rotterdam immediately. The Eredivisionist has reached an agreement with the Saudi club Al Batin about a transfer fee for the attacker.
The transfer had been in the air for some time. Rayhi came into action against PEC Zwolle on Saturday (4-0 loss), but indicated after the game that he would like to embark on an adventure in Saudi Arabia “purely for the money”.
It took a while for Sparta to receive the desired bank guarantee from Al Batin, but it has now been received. 26-year-old Rayhi says goodbye to his teammates on Thursday and then travels to his new club to complete the transfer. It is not known what amount Sparta will receive for the attacker.
“I played for 2.5 years at a very nice club, but as I have already indicated, this is an opportunity in my career that I cannot refuse,” said Rayhi on the website from Sparta. “I am therefore happy that the clubs have come out and I can take this step.”
The former youth international of Orange has been wearing the Sparta shirt since the summer of 2018, with which he immediately forced promotion to the Eredivisie in his first season. He played a total of 64 official matches for the Rotterdam team and scored twenty times.
Rayhi, who was still under contract with Sparta until mid-2022, went through PSV’s youth academy, but never made his debut in the main squad. After a few seasons with Young PSV, Rayhi also wore the NEC shirt between 2015 and 2018.
