A rare Elvis Presley guitar, a 1942 Martin D-18, was sold at auction for the record $ 1.3 million (over $ 1.1 million).
Presley used the guitar from 1954 to 1956. The instrument can be heard on the classics That’s Alright (Mama), Blue Moon of Kentucky in Good Rockin’ Tonight. He also performed live with the Martin D-18.
Initially the name Elvis was written on the guitar with metal letters, but the ‘s’ is no longer on it.
Presley’s item was auctioned by auction house Gotta Have Rock and Roll. The buyer wants to remain anonymous.
