Rare event, little boy bites cobra snake to death

Jakarta

A bird howling cobra died after being bitten by an eight-year-old boy. Yes, you are not misinformed. It was not the boy but the venomous snake that died. This rare event occurred in Jashpur, northeast of Raipur, India.

Human-animal conflicts are inevitable for people living among wild animals. This is what happened to the boy named Deepak, while playing away from his house.

Annoyed, a snake cobra (spectacled cobra) bit and wrapped itself around the boy’s arm. Deepak struggled away from the snake, but the coils only got tighter. Fortunately, although venomous, the snake did not poison the child.

In desperation, the boy bit the snake twice. I’m he ended up dying of his injuries. The doctor who dealt with the case concluded that the snake bite that attacked Deepak was called “dry bite”, i.e. the snake bites when no venom has been injected into the bite.

“The snake coiled up and bit my hand. I was in a lot of pain. It didn’t move when I tried to let go, so I ended up biting it twice,” Deepak told local media.

It is not known exactly what species of snake it is. However Raipur is home to a wide variety of snakes including cobras. Rescuer and snake expert Moiz Ahmed of the Nova Nature Welfare Society said in a 2014 statement that Raipur’s dense population can make it difficult for wildlife and residents to maintain a comfortable distance.

“Snakes are very adaptable and the area in and around Raipur is an ideal habitat for them. Unfortunately, with such a dense population, conflicts with reptiles are bound to arise,” he said. IFL Science.

The spectacled cobra, also known as Naja naja in India, has a relatively high bite frequency because it lives in an environment full of humans. This snake is capable of releasing a neurotoxic venom that can be fatal within 60 minutes.

Symptoms of poisoning appear if they are bitten I am these include feeling lethargy, paralysis, seizures, headache, nausea, and vomiting. These effects can be treated with injections of antivenom.

Luckily for Deepak the “magical” boy, the cobra doesn’t release its venom when it bites. This is a behavior mostly seen in adult snakes that try to scare their rivals into running away.

Unfortunately for the sister cobra, he wrapped his body in his opponent’s arm with a more threatening intention. Indeed, Deepak bit bravely and the cobra did not survive the fight.
