Rapid Support Forces Shoot Down Army MiG Plane Amid Ongoing Sudanese Hostilities

The Rapid Support Forces announced that they shot down an army MiG plane on Sunday, in a continuation of the hostilities that Sudan has been witnessing for weeks.

A statement by the Rapid Support Forces said that the army’s aircraft launched raids on its sites in the Bahri area of the capital, indicating that it had shot down a “MiG” plane of the Sudanese army.

The army did not comment on the statement of the Rapid Support Forces, and it was not possible to confirm the authenticity of the statement from independent sources.

In continuation of efforts aimed at ending the war, Riyadh and Washington called on the parties to the conflict in Sudan to return to the negotiating table in order to reach a new ceasefire, two days before US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

And a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), on Sunday, said that Riyadh and Washington are ready to resume formal talks, and they also call on “the parties to agree on a new ceasefire, and implement it effectively with the aim of building a permanent cessation of military operations.”

And the statement continued: “The delegations of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces are still present in the city of Jeddah, despite the suspension of talks and the end of the 5-day ceasefire.”
