Ranking in social media: BVB again runners-up, VfL Bochum increases

The 18 Bundesliga clubs have around 185 million followers on social media. In this ranking, Schalke would be in a European Cup.

The soccer pros VfL Bochum have secured their place in the league with their strong performances and, thanks to their passionate performances, also secured more followers in the social media ranking of the past Bundesliga season.

This is shown by a current analysis by the digital agency Lobeco, which the magazine Sponsors has published. VfL Bochum was able to increase the number of its followers by 11 percent to 391,000 followers on all internet platforms. The only crux: only the events of the two relegated Arminia Bielefeld (356,000 / plus 28,000) and SpVgg Greuther Fürth (197,000 / plus 36,000) follow fewer football fans.

As in game operations, FC Bayern Munich is at the top of the social media rankings. A total of 109 million fans follow the reigning German champions on the platforms Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok, Linkedin, Youtube and Twitch. That’s 11.1 million more than in the previous season. Overall, the 18 Bundesliga clubs gained 22 million new followers and now have around 185 million.

Also in this ranking is the closest pursuer of FC Bayern Borussia Dortmund. Of the BVB was able to gain 6.2 million followers and now has 46.3 million thanks to the 15 percent increase. The interest on social media is therefore still immense.

Behind there is a huge gap: third is Bayer Leverkusen with 6.58 million followers. RB Leipzig recorded the largest percentage growth with a total of 3.4 million followers (plus 960,000/plus 39 percent). Interesting: second division champions Schalke 04 has 6.7 million followers on all platforms and would be third.
