Rangnick on Lindelof, Lingard and Ronaldo’s frustration

Bill Rice, BBC-Radio Manchester

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick spoke against him ahead of tomorrow’s game West Ham.

He should have said this:

  • Victor Lindelof will be unavailable and does not want to leave his wife and children after their home was broken into while they were playing in Brentford on Wednesday.

  • Jadon Sancho will return to training today after missing Wednesday’s game due to a bereavement in the family.

  • Rangnick said regular clubs like Newcastle are interested in Jesse Lingard but he would like to say it at United. He added that the question for Lingard is if he would like more time to play elsewhere.

  • He admitted it was normal and said it wasn’t a problem Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t happy to be replaced at Brentford. He added that Ronaldo asked him after his departure: “Why me? Why not one of the younger players?”

  • The German capitalized on the negative experience of conceding two goals at Villa Park as he brought Harry Maguire to Ronaldo to defend his lead at Brentford.

  • Rangnick believes United have the ability to play three defences, with a centre-back and a full-back.

  • He likes the offensive qualities of Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles but believes his two backs can still improve defensively.
