Adil Rami and PFC Sochi, it’s already over. The 34-year-old French footballer is now free of any contract, according to a statement released this Wednesday evening by his lawyer. He had nevertheless joined the club at the end of February, after having prematurely ended his unsuccessful collaboration with Fenerbahçe. But it is without having played a single match in the Russian championship that he leaves, claiming to have received “no remuneration”.
“PFC Sochi has decided not to honor any of its commitments and has tried to shirk all responsibility by demonstrating the utmost bad faith”, wrote the representative of the 2018 world champion, also deploring “lies”.
He wants to continue his career
“There are fundamental rights and essential obligations to which no attack can be tolerated”, one reads also in the press release, which recalls in conclusion that the former central back of OM has “a will still intact to continue its career”. “His determination does not come out of it as strengthened,” insists the lawyer.
The Russian championship was suspended in mid-March by the Covid-19 pandemic, after the 22nd day. The Sochi club nevertheless had time to play four games between the signing of Adil Rami and the forced interruption. For all these meetings, the Habs was neither on the field nor on the sidelines. His last appearance on a lawn dates back to February 11, for a quarterfinal return from the Turkish Cup. Fenerbahçe won 1-0 against Kirklarelispor. He had played the entire game.
