Rainy Season, Dengue Cases in Pamekasan Increase

KARIMATA RADIO, PAMEKASAN – Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Pamekasan increased mainly during the rainy season.

Data from the Pamekasan Health Office shows that from the beginning of 2022 to January 21, 2022, there were 45 cases of dengue fever, of which 3 people died, namely 2 children and 1 adult.

“As for the adult who died, he was 54 years old and because he had comorbidities or comorbidities,” said Hidayat, Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Pamekasan Health Office when On Air at Dinamika Madura Radio Karimata, Saturday (22/01/2022) morning.

Hidayat conveyed that to anticipate the number of dengue cases in Pamekasan Regency, his party had provided counseling and socialization of mosquito nest eradication (PSN) and 3M (draining, closing and burying).

“We have started conducting counseling by visiting the area where the case died in the working area of the Puskesmas, and puskesmas officers providing counseling,” he said.

According to him, cases of DHF often occur at the age of children. Especially in the rainy season because there are many wet places and stagnant water which is a breeding ground for mosquito larvae.

“To avoid mosquito bites, children when sleeping during the day can use mosquito repellent or use a mosquito net,” he advised.

He explained that fogging can be done usually if there are already deaths from dengue fever in the area or there are 3 cases of dengue fever and the three are 100-200 meters apart in one area.

His party also conveyed the symptoms of DHF that could be seen from DHF patients, namely high body temperature or fever for more than 3 days even though they had been given fever-reducing drugs.

“Usually the fever doesn’t go down for 3 days, so you have to immediately take it to a health facility, such as to the Puskesmas,”

3M is important to do, namely cleaning water containers, closing water containers and burying used cans and tires that are no longer used so that they do not become a breeding ground for mosquitoes that cause dengue fever. (Fitri/Mel)
