Raimonds Pauls congratulates VEF Culture Palace with a concert on its anniversary / Article / LSM.lv

The VEF Culture Palace has celebrated its 60th anniversary. And she has celebrated exclusively – with maestro Raimonds Pauls, a concert program “Congratulations!” Dedicated and prepared especially for this event. The concert on October 29 was like a “cherry” in the anniversary cake for all the long-term leaders and former employees of the VEF Culture Palace.

In accordance with the gathering rules set by the state, most of the events and concerts planned by the VEF Culture Palace have been canceled. However, in honor of the 60th anniversary of VEF Culture Palace, former and current employees of the Culture House gathered for a special concert program of Raimonds Pauls “Congratulations!”. It was a very personal dedication of the maestro, because he has many memories associated with this house of culture.

“It seems to me that there are no bands and groups in Latvia that have not played here. Everyone has played.

I always treat those great amateur groups that were related to VEF with such great respect, ”noted Raimonds Pauls. “What kind of shows and musical competitions did not take place here. Basically everything happened in “Vefa”, let’s go to “Vefa” or “Vefiņa”, as he was called. VEF itself – it is a pity that there is only one word left. It used to be a great factory. ”

In the concert “Good luck!” Raimonds Pauls’ songs performed by Dināra Rudāne, Mārtiņš Rusks, Gidons Grinbergs and Mārčs Auziņš have been performed so far.

“We read, I think, good singers and good musicians and will give such a small light program,” the maestro noted before the concert. “It simply came to our notice then.

Well, as is customary on such an anniversary evening, there is no need to be overly serious. Let people relax and smile. ”

Ženija Katkovska, the former director of VEF Culture Palace, said: “Raimonds Pauls is already well known to me, and he has really been here at home all these years, and a lot has been together. I am so glad that he offered the concert himself and that he is coming. Fantasy! ”

Aivars Gailis, the artistic director of the mixed choir “Dzīne” at VEF Culture Palace, noted:

Meanwhile, Vera Batigina, a former employee of VEF Culture Palace, when visiting the Culture Palace, was convinced that it was in safe hands: “All traditions have been preserved. As we grew up here, now there will be a new generation. I wish you a lot of good work.”

As the maestro admitted after the concert, if all Latvian bands that had once performed at the VEF Culture Palace were invited to perform on the anniversary, it would be a festival lasting several weeks.
