Raids at three smart shops in Arnhem: 32-year-old arrested and drug items seized Arnhem

The raids and searches took place at businesses on Rijnstraat, Bloemstraat and Hommelseweg in Arnhem. According to the police, various materials have been found that have to do with the trade in (hard) drugs. For example, officers found cutting agents, folded wrappers (ponypacks) and other packaging materials. Cans with hidden hiding spaces were also seized.

The police also found hemp buds and hash on Hommelseweg. The Arnhemmer has been arrested for this. According to the police spokesperson, it is possible that more arrests will follow in this investigation.

Undermining and unacceptable

In a press release, police action leader Marc Teunissen says: ‘Everything dealers need for the drug trade is available in these shops’. That is undermining, punishable and we do not accept. That is why we act together with partners. For a safer Arnhem and for entrepreneurs who try to earn their living in an honest way.’

Mayor Ahmed Marcouch of Arnhem says in the same communiqué: ‘It’s great that this is happening. Our neighborhoods are for growing children with their parents and neighbors. We erect barriers against criminals with the police, we carry out major checks with supervisors and tax authorities and we set up pedagogical programs for the children, from cradle to job’.
