Raed Arafat proposed PCR tests for all citizens coming to Romania in December, the proposal was rejected in the government meeting

Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), has proposed that all citizens who come to Romania in December submit PCR tests, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or sick, government sources told G4Media.

However, the proposal was rejected at the government meeting, among those who opposed the measure were the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, and the Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor.

Opponents of the proposal argued that such a system would produce difficult-to-manage situations, given that in December many Romanians living abroad return home for holidays.

Following the discussions at the government meeting, it was agreed that the Ministry of Health should formulate a proposal for managing the large flow of people who will come to Romania in December, according to the quoted sources.

A similar move was announced on Friday by Norway.
