Cologne. A shock for thousands of customers: Galeria Kaufhof has left the popular “Payback” points program. Since January 1, 2020, the goods giant has had its own system for collecting points. But what does that mean specifically for customers now?
After the drugstore chain dm only awarded half of the points compared to last year when shopping, Payback customers are now smeared again. Because Galeria Kaufhof has completely dropped out of the Payback program.

“Since there have been no more payback points since January 1st, I no longer see any reason to buy from you,” complains a customer on the company’s Facebook page. Similar to them see other Payback customers who complain about the exit on social media.

But customers do not have to do without their points entirely. Because Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof retains a bonus point system, even if it is an in-house one. Since January 1, customers have been able to pick up the new bonus point card from Galeria Kaufhof and continue to earn points while shopping.
And another good news for customers: The points collected so far at Galeria Kaufhof can still be redeemed in the rewards shop or other Payback partners. But no longer at Galeria Kaufhof or Karstadt.
Karstadt has had its own system for years
Only those who had a voucher for Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof in return for some points issued before the end of last year can redeem it with the goods giant for three years. However, this does not apply to Karstadt. Because the department store has had its own point system for several years. Therefore, the payback points as vouchers cannot be redeemed at the Karstadt stores.
After the merger of Karstadt and Galeria Kaufhof, the company decided to get out of the payback system entirely and set up its own system. The system already in place at Karstadt was transferred to Galeria Kaufhof.
Customer cards remain valid
Customers who already have a Karstadt customer card can continue to use it and can now collect and redeem points with Galeria Kaufhof. New customers can have a new card issued in the Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof stores. (Fb)
