President Rumen Radev will not be in a hurry to hand over a mandate to form a government to enable parties to engage in dialogue and reach consensus. This became clear from the statement of the head of state to intellectuals in Varna.
At the moment on the agenda, the most important task facing us, the parties and Bulgaria is
the formation of a sustainable, efficient government,
he said at a meeting with representatives of art, culture, science and education from the seaside town, quoted by BTA.
There are many important tasks to be solved. It is high time the parties took their political responsibility. People vote for them, they do not vote for this official cabinet, the head of state added. He reminded that the cabinet is entirely his decision and appointment and his responsibility.
I urge the parties once again not only to declare their intentions during the elections, but now to show that they can offer an alternative, that they can have a dialogue with each other, and not run away from responsibility and justify themselves, the president said.
Radev also said that he would start consultations with parliamentary parties before serving his term as soon as possible, but
when he will hand over the first study mandate depends a lot on these consultations.
“It depends a lot on whether the parties will find a dialogue first, and second – they will be able to reach some consensus,” Radev said.
According to him, this time they have no right to make a mistake, and another correction will not be at their expense, but at the expense of all of us.
In response to a question about Minister Boyko Rashkov’s report on the chief prosecutor, Radev commented that his assessment of the chief prosecutor’s actions was given last year. And it is expected that his resignation will be in favor of civil society and our country, the president said.

The head of state pointed out that Varna is increasingly establishing itself as a center of education, science and culture and everything necessary must be done to develop this initiative and the potential that the people here have to the maximum.
