Ukroboronprom is being reformed
The state concern intends to reform within a year, creating two large holdings on its basis.
At an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, July 13, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the specifics of reforming enterprises of the military-industrial complex with 256 votes.
The law provides for the transformation of the state concern Ukroboronprom into a joint-stock company, and the enterprises that are part of it – into business companies.
As part of the transformation, two large holdings will be created: Defense Systems of Ukraine, which will unite 65 enterprises into 6 subholdings; and an aerospace holding company that will deal with aviation and space.
The law stipulates that enterprises of the military-industrial complex, which, according to the law, can be privatized, are not involved in the implementation of the state defense order (government contracts for defense procurement) and do not carry out production, development, modernization, repair, maintenance, sale, disposal of weapons, military and special equipment and ammunition may be transferred to the State Property Fund for privatization.
Previously Ukroboronprom put up for sale 17 companies… Enterprises have long lost contact with the defense industry and were unprofitable. Ukroboronprom includes 118 enterprises, of which 21 are in the temporarily occupied territory.
