Quit the job on the day

– I immediately called the job and said that I took the next day off. Then I added that I hardly showed up during the week. Before I said I’ll probably never come back to work.

Ian Black (61) from Carlisle in England says this after the scratch card he had bought gave a profit of 24,000,000 kroner.

He was on his way home after the night shift, and was going to stop by Spar Euro Garage as usual and buy scratch cards around six in the morning on 13 January.

There was road work outside, and he considered dropping it for a moment, but changed his mind at the last second.

Screamed

– I bought a ticket for five pounds (60 Norwegian kroner) and went out of the shop, sat down and scraped the ticket. I did not believe my own eyes. I screamed and drove straight home, he says BBC.

New millionaire does not respond

– I shook while driving. When I got home, I woke her up and shouted “You have to come down here. It is important!”

His wife Sandra feared that something had happened to their dog, “Me”. She had to double-check the scratch card, before informing the man that he had to call the lottery company.

– I could not understand it. “I thought something like this was not happening to us, there must be something wrong with the card,” she told the British news agency. PA.

– But Ian was chalk white and he was shaking. So I realized he was not trying to fool me.

Quit

Then Ian called the factory where he has worked for 42 years, and quit his job on the spot.

– The boss wondered what had happened. I told him that I had won two million pounds (24 million Norwegian kroner) and now wanted to retire.

Won after 40 years

They have already decided what they want to spend the money on. The first to benefit from it is the dog “Meg”, who is undergoing surgery.

Then the couple will buy a new car and a new TV, before they will help their five children and ten grandchildren into the housing market.

Finally, they will build the dream home.

– We have dreamed about this, but have always thought that this does not happen to people like Sandra and me. But now we are the proof that it can actually happen, says Ian.
