KOMPAS.com – Positive case Covid-19 in Tegal City, Central Java, 28 cases were recorded again on Friday (7/8/2020).
The addition of these new cases proves that status green zone currently implemented does not guarantee that the area is free from the corona virus.
Responding to the findings of the new Covid-19 case, Public Policy Observer Hamidah Abdurrachman is not surprised.
He assessed that the reason for the addition of new cases was due to the lack of seriousness from the local regional head in dealing with the spread of Covid-19.
“Busy imaging, the community becomes the victim. From the start, we have been reminded to do a mass test on the community, it can be gradual but sure. However, the euphoria is excessive in the green zone,” Hamidah said, Friday.

Green zone euphoria
Hamidah said, holding the green zone status also made the City Government ignore the handling of corona.
This was proven by allowing activities that involved crowds of people, but not heeding health protocols.
“All mass activities are allowed without certain standards. Even in some activities, he himself (the mayor) does not appear to be wearing a mask,” said Hamidah.
As a result, people are also reluctant to wear masks on a daily basis, keep their distance, and so on.
Because they have been provoked by the policies and behavior of the regional heads themselves.
“So the public has been provoked by policies that allow crowds of people. For example, by opening shopping centers, restaurants and events that involve large numbers of people but neglect health procedures,” he said.
To respond to the increase in cases, according to him, the City Government Tegal must do a policy evaluation.

28 new cases of Covid-19

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor M Jumadi said that as of Friday there were an additional 28 new cases of Covid-19 in Tegal City.
As for the details, 5 general practitioners, 1 dentist, 8 nurses, 1 dental nurse, 5 midwives, 1 nutrition officer, 2 pharmacy staff, 1 laboratory officer, 2 administrative staff, 1 cleaning service, and 1 church congregation.
Of the additional 28 cases, 14 of them were residents of Tegal City.
While the rest, 9 residents of Tegal Regency, 2 Jakarta, 1 Brebes, 1 Bandung, and 1 Temanggung resident.
“As of today there are 28 people who suspect positive Covid-19 in Tegal City. This means that yesterday’s PCR swab results were not only Tegal people but almost all of them came from outside the city,” he explained.
