Queen Elizabeth was only allowed to visit sick Philip in exceptional cases | NOW

Prince Philip, who has been in hospital since Tuesday because he felt unwell, is currently not allowed to receive visitors there. King Edward VII’s Hospital where the husband of the British Queen Elizabeth II is staying, allows visits “only in exceptional cases”.

Due to the corona measures, visitors are not allowed. The 99-year-old prince gets according to The Sun no preferential treatment, which he himself “would consider more than logical”.

Sources around the royal family say that Philip will also stay in the hospital “for rest and for observation”.

The prince felt unwell on Tuesday and was admitted as a precaution, Buckingham Palace said.

It is not the first time that Philip has been taken to hospital as a precaution. This previously happened in December 2019. In April of the year before, he was operated on his hip. In June 2017, the prince was hospitalized because of an infection from previous health problems. In 2013 Philip was admitted with pain in his lower abdomen.

The prince celebrated his 99th birthday with his wife Elizabeth in Windsor Castle last June. The two have been there in quarantine since March because of the corona virus.
