Queen calls British to unity

Queen Elizabeth II of Britain has called on her compatriots to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. “In times like these, I remember that the history of our country was shaped by people and communities that have become one (…),” said the 93-year-old Queen, according to a message.

The combined efforts should now be directed towards the common goal. “More than ever in our recent past” everyone now has an important role to play in the coming days, weeks and months. “I assure you that my family and I are ready to do our part,” said the monarch.

Queen and Prince Philip retired to Windsor

The Queen and Prince Philip (98) had recently retired to Easter in Windsor Castle. Philip has been reported to be flown by helicopter from Sandringham country estate in East England. The Queen had her two dogs, the Dorgis Candy and Vulcan, brought by car from Buckingham Palace to Windsor.

The Queen and her husband are particularly vulnerable to the lung disease Covid-19, which is caused by the coronavirus due to their old age. So far, there are significantly more confirmed infections in central London than in other parts of the country.

Johnson expects a turnaround within three months

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, however, was very confident that a turnaround in the fight against the corona virus will be achieved within twelve months. It depends on how much the population helps, he says. There are indications that the rules in parts of London are not being followed by everyone. The government may have to tighten its measures in the capital. However, he does not think about paralyzing public transport.
